Were a Newf to post a personal ad it might look something like this:
Looking for Love. I like long walks, good food, and a crisp, clear bowl of water. I enjoy spending long hours with my loved ones, one on one time, and just sitting, talking or watching TV. My ideal date would be a sunset stroll on the beach, playing in the surf and then driving home in the car with the windows rolled down. I like to cuddle on the sofa (the bigger the better).
I am a loyal friend, a good listener and enjoy children. Due to some recent upheavals in my life I am looking for someone who is stable, dependable, loyal and loving - someone just like me.
Oh! And I am a hairy beast with a propensity to drool all over things (sofas, beds, people in their good clothes, or the bad ones). I am non-judgmental. Some think I look mean because of my size, but inside I am just a pussy-cat -- or, make that jello.

Meet a few of the dogs that have gone through Rescue in southern California.
Ways you can help
Foster Homes. Where do these dogs go when they come into Rescue? They go to the homes of very special people who take the time to train them, work with them and love them. This allows us to learn about the specific needs of each dog so we are able to find the best family to place them with.

Homes. Most of all, these wonderful dogs need permanent homes. If you think you are up to the challenge of taking in one of our very special Newfs as a permanent addition to your household, download an application today and send it in. You'll hear from one of us shortly.
Money. If you are turning a dog into Rescue, a donation is always appreciated. All Newfs are spayed or neutered before leaving Rescue. All Newfs have to be up to date on their vaccinations and are evaluated by a veterinarian and dog behavioralist before placing them in foster homes. We do fecal and heartworm testing as well. This is just the beginning for our new rescues; they may additionally require special food, toys, and additional trips to the vet. As a 100% volunteer organization, your donations help pay for animal care and education efforts.
Donation Form
We are glad to take donated items to help defray the costs of Rescue. These items include:
- Gift Certificates for dog food
- Beds
- Stainless Steel Bowls (2 quart size)
- Toys
- Treats, food (Please contact us prior to purchasing food and treats as we can only accept certain types due to the nutritional requirements of a large breed dog)
- Supplements
- Frontline (flea control)
- Interceptor (heartworm preventative)
- Kennels, x-pens or crates (Newf size of course!)
- Leashes, training collars (24" - 26") and regular collars
- Towels. And more towels. Clean used or new towels are always appreciated. Dish or hand towels for droll, bath and sheet sized for drying off our water-loving Newfs, they can be stained, but please wash all used towels first.

Please join us at our annual Rescue Benefit - it is a ton of fun, and the major funding tool for this important service.
